Resurrection lily (Kaempferia pulchra)

Description

Kaempferia pulchra Silverpot is one of the best known cultivars of Kaempferia pulchra. Nobody is sure of the original source but first entered the trade in Florida. In addition to have a season long beautiful foliage pattern, it can be evergreen in very warm climates. For areas with cooler to cold winters in the south it is naturally deciduous as are all Kaempferia. This Peacock Ginger and other cultivars of Kaempferia pulchra are perhaps the easiest of all to grow and a must for the shade garden. They make excellent groundcovers in shade, and are especially attractive around the base of trees. A great look we recommend is a back ring of the taller Kaempferia rotunda and then a wider planting in front of the Kaempferia pulchra cultivar (s). Throughout the growing season lavender blooms appear in the center of each plant. Can be grown easily in pots as well.
