Description

Discocactus horstii grows solitary, with brownish-green, flattened globular bodies reaching heights of growth of up to 2 centimeters and a diameter of up to 7 centimeters. The 15 to 22 roundish ribs are 6 to 8 millimeters high. The initially white-felted areoles later become blunted. There are up to 8 calcareous greyish white, up to 7.5 mm long spines which are bent backwards and abut the body surface. Made from white wool and some brownish, up to 2 centimeters long bristles, cephalium grows up to 1.5 centimeters high and reaches a diameter of 2 centimeters. The tubular white flowers are up to 7.5 inches long and reach a diameter of 6 centimeters. The cylindrical to club-shaped, white fruits are up to 3 inches long and have a diameter of 4 millimeters
