Skunk cabbage (Lysichiton camtschatcensis)

Description

The species Lysichiton camtschatcensis commonly known as Asian Skunk Cabbage or White Skunk Cabbage is a plant found in wetlands and wet forests, along streams and in other humid areas of the Kamchatka Peninsula in the Kuril Islands Sakhalin and in northern Japan. It is a robust herbaceous perennial that reaches 75 cm high and wide, with strong nerves, and bright leaves 50 to 100 cm long. At the beginning of spring white pointed spats up to 40 cm long are produced.
