Description

Eriochloa stapfiana is a flowering plant of the Orderaceae family . This species was first described by Clayton in 1975. Tufted perennial; culms robust, 60–120 cm. high. Leaf-blades 4–20 cm. long, 3–8 mm. wide. Inflorescence 7–30 cm. long; racemes 2–7 cm. long, with puberulous or pubescent (rarely pilose) triquetrous rhachis, the spikelets paired or on short side branchlets. Spikelets narrowly ovate, 3–4 mm. long, appressedly pubescent; lower glume absent or an obscure membranous rim; upper glume acuminate or with an awn-point up to 1 mm. long; lower floret ♂ with a palea or barren with the palea reduced in size; upper lemma with a mucro 0.3–0.7 mm. long.
