Description

Caladenia lyallii is a species of orchid family Orchidaceae, Australia New Zealand and Antipodes Islands where they grow isolated or in scattered groups, in moors, eucalyptus forests, and forests, this species belongs to the subgenus Stegostyla that distinguishes of the other subgenera of Caladenia by a sepal shorter than the other dorsal, strongly concave and inclined on the column and the calluses lipof its flowers, well separated, strongly nailed, that is, with large and globular apices the basals smaller than the distal ones. They are plants with a single dark pubescent basal leaf and a fine, pubescent, hard inflorescence with up to five flowers with a trilobed lip of jagged margins whose callus-like teeth. Its lateral sepals and petals are similar in shape, size and color. They are mostly pollinated by small bees.
