Echinocereus viereckii (Echinocereus viereckii)
Description
Echinocereus quadrangle grows upright or over-lying, branched at the base. The matte shiny single bright green shoots are often up to 20 inches long and 4 to 4.5 inches in diameter. They are loosely covered in the crown with a white-yellow Areole felt which is towered over by a Hyalingelblichen thorn The 8 to 9 ribs are very sharply separated in the apex and run straight down; about 6 to 8 millimeters high. They are heavily indented between the areoles so that they can sit on mammillary humps. The 7 to 9 Randdornen are spreading horizontally, usually very evenly distributed over the Areole, usually 5 to 7 millimeters long. The 4 Central spines are thickened at the base and up to 2 inches long. The funnel-shaped flowers are up to 11 centimeters in diameter and are purple pink. The flower tube is glazed glassy and light golden brown.
