Description

Plants 0.5-2 cm high, green, dense lawns. Plants loosely leafed. Leaves dry or hardly twisted. Rhizoids red-brown, fine to coarse-papillous, reaching far up the stem. Rhizoid mills not known. Leaves broadly elliptical to roundish, very hollow, descending at the base of the leaf, at the tip suddenly narrowed into a short, often bent hair tip. Leaf-edge all-round, occasionally at the tip weakly serrated, flat or site-wise. Rib reaching into the hair tip or ending. Cells in the center of the leaf rhombic, about 40-70 x 15-25 -m, on the leaf margin mostly 1 row of weakly separated, elongated cells.
