Description

Brunfelsia nitida is an unhealthy shrub or small tree . The leaves are almost leathery and shiny. They are inverted lanceolate or inverted egg-shaped, they become 5 to 6.5 cm long and 1.5 to 3 cm wide. To the front they are pointed or tapered, the base is narrowed. The leaves are 3 to 4 mm long. The flowers stand singly in the armpits on short branches , which are covered with leaflets, or occasionally the flowers also stand in tufts. The flower stalks are 5 to 10 mm long. The calyx is 1 to 1.2 cm long and is split up almost to the base. The lanceolate or elliptically shaped calyces are 7 to 8.5 mm long and pointed or tapered. The crown is white in color, the crown has a diameter of 3.3 to 5 cm. The corolla lobes are corrugated, the corolla is slender and about 10 cm long. The stamens have a length of about 1 cm. The fruits are spherical and about 1 cm in size. The surface is smooth and glabrous. The seeds are about 5 mm long, the seed surface is net-like-grubig.
