Siegfriedia darwinioides is the only kind of the genus Siegfriedia from the family of the Kreuzdorngewächse Rhamnaceae. The shrub is native to Western Australia. The name of the genus comes from Siegfried a mythical Germanic hero, who hada cloak,according to the Nibelungen saga, which hid him. The flower heads are hidden in these species as by a cloak of invisibility.
