Description

Primula modesta is a heterostylous species of primrose which is found in Japan, Korea, Kuril Islands, far Eastern Siberia, Manchuria, and Mongolia as well as Sakhalin and Kamchatka. Scapes are 3–12 centimetres (1.2–4.7 in) by 8 centimetres (3.1 in) long. The flowers are rose-pink in color and are 10 to 15 millimetres (0.39 to 0.59 in) long, with 10 to 20 millimetres (0.39 to 0.79 in) long flower stalks. The leaves are broad, oblanceolate with yellow farinose beneath and glabrous above. It has a slightly recurved margin which is also toothed and is 3–8 centimetres (1.2–3.1 in) long and 1–1.5 centimetres (0.39–0.59 in) wide.
