Arrhenatherum calderae (Arrhenatherum calderae)

Description

A most attractive low-growing grass, at its best in spring and early summer. Plants form spreading clumps of narrow leaves, striped lengthwise with bright green and creamy-white. Tan spikes are insignificant. Because this cool-season grass often browns out in summer, the foliage should be trimmed hard in mid-June to rejuvenate. Especially nice combined with late tulips and other late spring flowering perennials. Clumps may be easily divided in fall or early spring. This will spread to form a patch, but does not get out of control. Drought tolerant once established.
