Description

Uncarina leptocarpa is a species of the genus Uncarina in the sesame family (Pedaliaceae).Uncarina leptocarpa grows as a small tree with overhanging branches and a densely branched crown. It is about 2.5 meters high and has a very large, irregular and underground tuber. The pentagonal leaf blade is up to 13 inches long and up to 14 inches wide. Small, pointed lobes and usually two indistinct basal lobes are formed. The leaf margin is ganzrandig. On the upper side of the leaf, only a few, single mucous glands with a square head are present. On the veins of the underside of the leaves are the mucous glands in larger numbers.
