Spiral Sorrel (Oxalis spiralis)
Description
Oxalis spiralis, the spiral sorrel, is a species of the genus Oxalis, the largest genus in the wood sorrel family Oxalidaceae. Its subspecies O. s. ssp. vulcanicola (Donn.Sm.) Lourteig is known as volcanic sorrel or velvet oxalis. Apparently not native to the US, though perhaps cultivated from native species. USDA Plants database shows both O. spiralis and ssp. vulcanicola as nonnative, but unlisted as introduced either.
