Description

Phalaenopsis aphrodite is a species of orchid found from southeastern Taiwan to the Philippines. They are produced from Taiwan to the Philippines in primary and secondary forests at elevations of 0-300 masl . It resembles P. amablis but differs in the red disk of the lips, half of the triangular lobe and its flower is smaller with about 7.5 cm instead of the 10 cm of p. amablis . The flowering season is from December to April on one side with 9 dm long with many inflorescences in cluster with small flowers. It prefers shade and humidity conditions. Phalaenopsis aphrodite was described by Heinrich Gustav Reichenbach and published in Hamburger Garten- und Blumenzeitung 18: 35. 1862.
