Acianthera teres (Acianthera teres)

Description

Acianthera esters is a small species of orchid (Orchidaceae) originating from Brazil , previously subject to the genus thePleurothallis. It has a vegetative habit mainly rupicum, sometimes as epiphyte, vegetating under full sun with its roots between cracks and cracks of quartzite rocks containing accumulation of moisture, debris brought by summer rains and decomposing organic matter. The humidity in the cracks is renewed by the sawmills in times of drought. Its natural habitats (MG and RJ) are in dry and warm regions, with a tropical climate: wet summer and dry winter.Acianthera teres vegetates in full sun that directly affects its coriaceous, plump and fleshy leaves perfectly adapted to extremes of temperature and humidity of this type of environment whose temperature variations between day and night are high, that is, hot days and cold nights even with the possibility of frost during the winter. The leaves are terete-oval and pointy. The inflorescence is erect, 3 to 10 alternating flowers that open together but remain almost closed. The sepals are wine-colored with yellowish-orange centers. The wine-reddish lip is tongue-shaped. The tonality of the leaves vary from green to purple-red.
