Description

Calylophus hartwegii was already described and the name validly published by George Bentham. It was Peter Hamilton Raven, however, who reclassified it into todays valid botanical systematics in 1964. Calylophus hartwegii is a species in the genus Calylophus which contains approximately 11 to 19 species and belongs to the family of the Onagraceae (Evening-primrose Family). The perennials reach heights of 30 to 45 centimetres. Calylophus hartwegii is evergreen. The simple leaves are alternate. They are linear. Calylophus hartwegii produces yellow cup-shaped flowers from March to October. The perennials prefer a sunny situation on dry soil. The substrate should be loamy, sandy-loamy, clay or loamy clay soil.
