Description

Micromyrtus obovata is a plant species of the Myrtaceae family endemic to Western Australia. The erect shrub typically grows to a height of 0.4 to 1.6 metres (1.3 to 5.2 ft). It blooms between July and September producing white flowers. It is found on hills, slopes and flats in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia where it grows in clay-sandy to sandy soils. Myrtus, with the common name myrtle, is a genus of flowering plants in the family Myrtaceae, described by Linnaeus in 1753. Over 600 names have been proposed in the genus, but nearly all have either been moved to other genera or been regarded as synonyms. The Myrtus genus has three species recognised today: 1.Myrtus communis - Common myrtle; native to the Mediterranean region in southern Europe. 2. Myrtus nivellei - Saharan myrtle; native to North Africa.
