Description

Tulipa L. is a genus of angiosperms ( flowering plants) of the lilac family . With about a hundred species , the tulip trees have leaves that can be oblong, oval or lanceolate (in the shape of a spear). From the center of the foliage emerges an upright stem, with a solitary flower formed by six petals. Colors and shapes are very varied. There are many cultivated varieties and thousands of hybrids in different colors, tinted tones, perforated tips, etc. The bulb contains thermostable alkaloids and calcium oxalate crystals.
