Swordleaf Blue-Eyed Grass (Sisyrinchium chilense)
Description
Stems 20-30cm, sometimes to 45cm tall, flattened and narrowly winged. Leaves 10-30cm long and 2-4mm wide with prominent veining. Spathes usually two. Flowers about 2cm across, creamy ivory with a yellow throat, bearing brownish-purple veins, summer. Chile and Argentina in the central and southern provinces in grassland at 50-1000m. Sometimes confused with other species and mistakenly recorded purple to blue-flowered.
