Red currant (Ribes rubrum)

Description

It is a shrub up to 3 m high devoid of spines and with leaves about 10 cm wide, webbed, with 3-5 triangular lobes toothed with glandular hairs. Flowers 4-7 mm arranged in tight bunches appearing in June. S-palos obtuse, ciliates, pink or reddish and petals in the form of scale, half long than sepals, widely spatulate. Fruit fleshy, globose, red and very acidic flavor, although edible. It differs from red currant ( Ribes rubrum ) because of its larger leaves and the flared aspect of the flower.
