Bladder gentian (Gentiana verna verna)

Description

Gentian alata ( Gentiana utriculosa L.) is an annual plant of the Genzianaceae family. The stem is robust and branchy at the base. The basal leaves are rosette, the upper ones are enlarged. Blue flowers bloom between May and August . The cup is tubular. The corolla , blue, is violet inside. It is frequently found in the Eastern Alps , less on the Western Alps. It lives in dry meadows and pastures, on calcareous soils, between 400 and 1700 meters of altitude.
