Description
The marcieguilla ( Carex muricata ), is a species of herbaceous plant belonging to the family of the Cyperaceae. Rizomatosa plant, like all those of the genus Carex , springs from a rhizome , which extends, in this case thick, underground, forming lawns with the bud of stems 20-50 cm high, triengular section, with angles Sharp and tiny pimples on them, which makes them "rough" or something sharp to the touch. The leaves , 2.5-3 mm wide and somewhat shorter than the stems, are straight, similar to those of wheat or barley , somewhat rough on the edge, not very stiff. It is a dioecious species , the flowers of each individual are unisexual (male or female). In the genus Carexthe feminine flower is a kind of "bottle" ( utricle ) and 2-4 stigmas , while the masculine one is reduced to 3 stamens , in both cases protected with vegetal scales and forming spikes at the end of fertile stems.
