Description

Dinklagei Kalanchoe a is plant of the genus Kalanchoe in the family of Crassulaceae (Crassulaceae). Together with Kalanchoe arborescens it is the highest species of the genus. The specific epithet honors the German gardener Werner Dinklage. Kalanchoe dinklagei forms small trees that reach heights of growth of 8 to 10 meters and branch off from the base. Their thick shoots are initially densely covered with greyish or reddish brown hair , which later give way to a greyish bark. The thick, strong and fleshy leaves are green-white to whitish silver-colored and sheathed with star-shaped hair. The 1 to 2 cm long petiole is widened and furrowed on top. The egg-shaped, ovate-spatulate leaf blade is 3 to 6 inches long and 2.5 to 4 inches wide. It is obtuse at the tip, rounded to slightly truncate and narrowed at the base. Of theLeaf margin is entire. Young leaves are sometimes ovate, oblong triangular, elliptic to oblong with wavy to serrated edges. The inflorescence is a dense, many-flowered thyrus of up to 30 centimeters in length. The hairy inflorescence stem is 20 inches long. The upright to spreading, yellow-green to whitish flowers sitting on fleshy, long-haired, about 3 millimeters long pedicels . The densely long-haired (star-shaped and sometimes glandular hair), corolla is green-yellow, whitish yellow, pink. The cylindrical, 10 to 15 millimeters long Kronröhrehas lanceolate and slightly spreading ears that are 2.5 to 3.5 millimeters long and 1 to 2 millimeters wide. The stamens are attached above the center of the corolla tube and protrude slightly out of the corolla tube. The egg-shaped dust bags are 0.5 to 0.8 millimeters in size.
