Description

Dimerocostus strobilaceus is a plant species of the genus Dimerocostus of the family Costaceae . The Dimerocostus are in Central America and South America from Nicaragua north to northern Bolivia in the south, mostly along the eastern slope of the Andes and within the Caribbean coast in Venezuela and Suriname. Dimerocostus argenteus is only found in Peru and Bolivia, its area overlapping that of Dimerocostus strobilaceus subsp. gutierrezii . The plant is known as "Situlle" in the Pacaya-Samiria region of Peru and as "Saguiro" in the San Martin region of Peru.
