Description

Arenaria emarginata is a species of herbaceous plantbelonging to the family of the caryophyllaceae . It is a small annual herb , pubescent, eglandulosa in the lower 1/3, viscera in the superior. Stems up to 14 cm tall, erect, branched. Leaves up to 22 mm, linear, obtuse. Pedicels up to 18 mm, 1-2 (-3) times as long as the sepals . Calyx truncated at the base, more or less conical. Sepals of 2.9-4 (-5.5) mm, lanceolate, subbobtuso with 1-3 nerves and narrow scarious margin, sometimes tinged with purple at the apex. Petals2-3.5 mm, shorter or approximately as long as the sepals, oblong, rounded or emargined, white or pink. Anthers of 0.2-0.3 mm, globose, purple. The fruit is a capsule of 3-4 (-5) mm, shorter or slightly longer than the sepals, papyracea, with patent or retrorsal teeth. Seeds of 0.45-0.7 mm, reniform, globose, with obtuse, black tubers. It blooms and fructifies from January to June.
