Description

Parodia haselbergii is a species in the genus Parodia in the family of the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet haselbergii honors thedoctorfrom Stralsund and cactus collector Dr. med. from Haselberg. Parodia haselbergii grows individually with bright green to gray-green spherical shoots whose vertices are slightly depressed and reach the diameter of 7 to 8 centimeters. The 30 or more spirally arranged ribs are somewhat humped. On them are white areoles . The three to five yellowish middle spines are 1 to 1.5 inches long. The 20 to 60 or more spines are needle-like and almost bristle-like. They are yellowish white and have a length of up to 1 centimeter. The yellowish red to orange red or yellowish green flowers reach a diameter of 2.5 to 3 inches. Her flower tube is short or completely absent. The pericarpell and the flower tube are covered with small scales, wool and bristles. The scar is pale yellow. The spherical fruits are small and mature slowly. At first they are light green and become darker at maturity. The fruits contain elongated cap-shaped, glossy black seeds that are tuberculate.
