California Barrel Cactus (Ferocactus cylindraceus eastwoodiae)

Description

Ferocactus eastwoodiae grows individually with short to long cylindrical shoots and achieves growth heights of up to 3 meters when measuring 30 centimeters. There are 18 to 27 slightly bumped ribs . The yellowish to straw-colored thorns are very close together to partially conceal the shoots. The usually four middle mandibles are arranged crosswise and 7.5 to 8 centimeters long. The top and bottom of them are wider and thicker, and the lower one is slightly curved. 12 to 14 mostly corrugated edge spines are somewhat flattened, flexible and irregularly bent. They have a length of 3.5 to 6 centimeters. The yellow flowers are reddish-red. They reach a length of 3 to 6 centimeters and have a uniform diameter. The yellow fruits , about 3 to 4 centimeters long, are fleshy. They have diameters of 1.5 to 2 centimeters.
