Description

Aechmea nudicaulis is a bromeliad species in the genus Aechmea, which is often used as an ornamental plant.This species is native to Central America, the West Indies, central and southern Mexico, Brazil and Ecuador. They are epiphytes , which reach a size of (30-) 40-70 cm tall in flower. Leaves 25-55 (-100) cm long; elliptical pods, 5 cm wide, whole (serrated distally), densely brown-lepid, straw-colored to brown; lamina ligidadas, 4-6 (-8) cm wide, acute to rounded and acuminate, dentate, (glabrous) pubescent, frequently with bands of patent trichomes. Scale erect, 24-51 cm long, flocoso, bracts erect to divergent, much longer than internodes, entire; simple inflorescence, 3-14 cm long, flocose, with 25-60 pollen flowers, floral bracts absent or subulate up to 3 mm long, flocose to glabrescent, sessile flowers; sepals 5-7 mm long, free, asymmetric, acute and apiculate, glabrous (flocoso-pubescent proximally); yellow petals.
