Description
Bowiea volubilis Macbr, Ophiobostryx volubilis Skeels, Bowiea kilimandscharica Mildbraed), also Zulukartoffel , climbing potato or climbing onion called, is a plant from the family of the hyacinth plants (Hyacinthaceae). B. volubilis is the only species of the monotypic genus Bowiea . Divided this is only in the two subspecies ssp. volubilis and ssp. garipensis, The genus was named in honor of the English botanist James Bowie .
