Description
Glaux ( L. , 1753) is a genus monotypic of flowering plants perennial widespread in coastal zones (brackish marshes and grasslands) of ' North America and' Eurasia. The only species of the genus, G. maritima , is a perennial plant, succulent, from stem erected that can grow up to 40 cm in height. The leaves - opposite, sessile, cauline - are arranged along the stem; of elongated shape and with the margins devoid of teeth and lobes, measured in length between 4 to 20 mm. A characteristic of the plant, that differentiates it from other species of Primulaceae, is the flower single, without petals and equipped with a cup of five sepals pink; pentamer is also the seed capsule.
