Description

Carpanthea is a genus with three species of succulent plants belonging to the family Aizoaceae . The afternoon blossom is a genus belonging to the family of parsley plants and consists of 2 species that have their natural widening area in the southwestern part of the South African province of the Western Cape province . They are succulent herbs . Species in the afternoon blossoms have a hairy and shining stem. The lance-shaped to spoon-shaped leaves are shorter than the blade stems. There are three leaf nuts on the leaves and the blades are blunt at the end. The flower develops alone or in groups of three. The petals are golden yellow with a reddish margin and have little hair along the edge. Flowering occurs late in spring to early summer. The flower is only open during the day. The fruit is very eye-catching when it's open. The fruit capsule has 12 to 18 caps that open when the seeds are to spread. The long-tail caps are red, which makes it look like it blooms again when they open.
