Description

It has stems of 3-8 cm, solitary or in dense bundles of up to 13 on the same root, whitish in the hypogeal portion, carmine red in the air, 1 cm in diameter at the base and 5 cm in the apex, glabrous. Leaves of 15-25 x 7-15 mm, the upper ones greater than the inferior ones, obtuse, fimbriated (teeth of up to 1 mm) in the apical half, densely overlapping, carmine red-like bracts and bractéolas-, especially in the apical part. Inflorescences of up to 19 flowers; bracts of 20 x 7 mm, of the same color as the leaves, ± concave-convex; bract it 15-25 mm, papillose on the external side. Perianth of male and female flowers 10-23 mm, white or pinkish white (Ivorian in desiccation), ± outer papiloso and even internally, in male flowers, ± infundibuliform -tubo gradually tapered under the lobes-; in the female, lageniform and that exceeds up to 5 mm the length of the bractéolas and brácteas; lobes of 3 mm. Fruit 7 mm in diameter, white. Numerous seeds, ellipsoids.
